Speech Language Pathologists:
Debra Fenton, M.S., CCC-SLP
Debra is a certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), the Colorado State Speech and Hearing Association (CSHA) and the International Dyslexia Association. Her pediatric experience includes working in a variety of settings including pediatric outpatient clinics, brain injury rehabilitation hospitals and day programs, public school settings and private practice. She has attended numerous workshops in the areas of early literacy, learning disabilities and motor speech disorders. She is a recipient of the ASHA “ACE” Award for her commitment to Continuing Education.
Debra received her B.A. in Psychology and Linguistics from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1991. She completed her Master’s of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Minot State University in North Dakota in 1993 (Magna Cum Laude). During her final year in graduate school, Debra worked as a Research Assistant for the North Dakota Center for Disabilities. Upon graduating, she received the Graduate School’s Citation for Excellence Award and the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce award in recognition of her high scholastic achievement.
Debra enjoys spending time with her husband and two school-aged children. Her other interests include running, reading and skiing with her family. She enjoys participating in the Steamboat half marathon each year as well as the Colorado Relay.
Mary Zurn, M.S., CCC-SLP
Mary is a certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Her practical experience includes working with both with both children and adults in a variety of settings. Mary has extensive experience in the area of early intervention (birth to three population as well as preschoolers) following several years of working on early intervention teams within the state of Colorado (Developmental Disabilities Resource Center, Jefferson County Public Schools R1). Mary has completed training in the Lindamood Bell Approach to Literacy, Oro-facial Myology and Sara Rosenfeld-Johnson's Talk Tools. Mary also has experience working with children with sensory processing disorders following her work at the Sensory Therapies and Research Center (Star Center).
Mary obtained her B.S. from St. Cloud University in 1992 (Magna Cum Laude) and completed her Master's of Science Degree in Communication Disorders in 1994. Mary has additional training in the Tomatis based Integrated Listening Therapy program (iLS) and has a strong interest in neuro-feedback training and brain based learning approaches. She has completed extensive post-graduate work in applied psychology and has a background in massage therapy. Mary strongly believes in combining therapy approaches to address the whole person.
Occupational Therapists:
Christina Sevilla, MA, OTR
Christina is an occupational therapist with over ten years of experience treating sensory processing disorder, developmental delay, and fine motor issues in clinical, school, and home-based settings. Christina’s experience includes work at Children's Hospital, Los Angeles and The Children's Hospital, Denver. After the birth of her two children she started a private practice based in the homes of children with multiple disabilities.
Christina received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. In 1997 she completed her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California (Magna Cum Laude).
As an occupational therapist, Christina has always looked for ways to improve efficacy and efficiency in her practice. After research and discussion with therapists around the country currently using Listening therapy, she understood that healthy, efficient auditory processing is a crucial component of effective sensory processing and learning ability. Combining auditory stimulation with occupational therapy is a powerfully effective way to enhance the benefits of both therapies. Traditional occupational therapy services are also offered.
Cheryl Mock, M.S., OTR
With a BS in Biology from the University of Redlands, Cheryl began her career as a research scientist in molecular pharmacology. In 1992 she began volunteering in various education programs and discovered her true vocation of working with children. Upon earning a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in 2005, she undertook intensive post-graduate training in Sensory Integration theory and practice with the well-known educator Stacey Szklut, OTR. Upon moving to Colorado shortly after, Cheryl treated children with a wide variety of diagnoses and functional issues at the STAR Center under Dr. Lucy Jane Miller.
Cheryl specializes in sensory integration treatment techniques as well as listening therapies using the Tomatis-based Integrated Listening System (iLs). She successfully uses these techniques to address sensory processing disorders, gross and fine motor problems, self-regulation deficits, motor planning problems, learning disorders, and issues with activities of daily living.
